In the fall of 1945, our parents moved back to Dad’s hometown of Mankato, Minnesota. They lived for the first year in an apt at 507 South 4th St., until buying a new house at 739 Center St. in North Mankato. Doug and Rob were born during that time. The new house, at 111 Ridge Court in West Mankato, was being built in 1951, when the Minnesota River flooded in April, inundating North Mankato. Flooded out before the new house was finished, we moved into the basement while it was being completed. Dan was born during this time. This was home until the summer of 1965, when we moved to Texas. [The Minnesota River flooded again that year.]
